Minneapolis, Minnesota, The Design Project Manager is responsible for managing the predesign and design of moderate to complex Capital Improvement Projects ranging up to $300,000,000 across the University system (building and infrastructure construction). Renton, Washington, Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 路 Review all documents (specifications and drawings, etc.) to determine scope of work required contents of estimate and project risk. 路 Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope and enter in estimating system (Accubid and Live Count), and review for accuracy and completeness. 路 Estimate materials and labor, and budget for commercial and institutional projects. 路 Form strong working relationships with subcontractors, estimators, architects, and owners. 路 Possess excellent communications and marketing skills. 路 Commit to deadlines and deliver accurate estimates in a timely fashion. 路 Attending on-site pre-bid walk-throughs and job meetings as needed. 路 Request quotes from suppliers for equipment and materials. 路 Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes. Fire protection systems. Lead the design and specification coordination of the following fire protection systems: Wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action, deluge, and foam/water fire suppression systems. Fire water supply infrastructure includes fire water storage tanks, fire pumps, underground and aboveground distribution piping, and associated appurtenances. Outdoor fire suppression systems, including monitors, spray systems, and exposure protection systems. Addressable and non-addressable voice evacuation fire alarm systems, including initiation devices, supervision devices, and audible and visual notification appliances. Releasing systems for pre-action, foam/water, and clean agent systems. Calculations. Evaluate and lead the creation of fire protection calculations, including the hydraulic analysis of fire water supply and demand, battery calculations, and voltage drop calculations. Final Design. Extensive experience preparing Final Design contract documents, including: Contract Drawings with contents consistent with terms of Government Construction Contract standards. Technical Specifications in accordance with Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Standards Preparing Construction Cost estimates using industry recognized estimating software and other industry guidelines to the fullest extent possible. Basis of Design. Experience preparing Basis of Design documents as guides to preparation of final design contract documents for design-bid-build efforts and basic contract documents for design-build efforts. 9 . Submittals/shop drawings. Experience reviewing submittals/shop drawings and other Stage IV activities including Post-Award Contract Changes (PACCs) and answering RFIs. Coordination. Ability to coordinate with support disciplines such as Electrical, Civil, Structural, Architectural, Environmental, Geotechnical, Electronics, Traffic, and Resilience and Sustainability. Education. Candidates shall have a Bachelor of Science degree or Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering, fire protection engineering, or related engineering discipline from an ABET accredited university.
